In Dhurandhar, Ranveer plays Hamza, a man selected by the Indian intelligence chief (R Madhavan) to infiltrate Rehman Dakait’s (Akshaye Khanna) gang in Lyari, Pakistan. The film's climax reveals that Ranveer's character, Hamza, is in fact Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a convict who was offered an opportunity to redeem himself through this mission. In Uri, a dialogue between the characters played by Vicky Kaushal and Kirti Kulhari reveals that her character's husband, Captain Jaskirat Singh Rangi, was unfortunately killed in action during an operation.
